a practical and lovely electronics roll

One of the things we love to do around here is make things…especially fun and simple sewing projects. So when my good friend was telling me she needs a better way to store her many cords and chargers for her electronics while she travels (she travels back and forth between Minnesota and Australia for work and brings lots of electronic goodies), I immediately dragged her to my craft room and had her pick out some fabric. We decided I’d make her an electronics roll – kind of like a crayon roll for adults. Sure enough, about 30 minutes later, we had a simple fabric roll ready for her to pack for her next trip. It’s great because when it’s really full of cords and chargers (it has 6 pockets of various sizes), she can just fold it in half and lay it in her suitcase. When it’s less full, she can actually roll it up and put it in her day bag to keep her organized. Organization + cute pouch = SO MUCH FUN!

You just might find some of these make an appearance in our etsy shop! what do you think?

happy first birthday to vivian!

vivian and i had a great photo session together to document her first birthday. she was definitely an explorer – it’s so precious to watch new little legs walking! this was our third session together over the course of her first year. I LOVE multiple sessions with clients. it allows me to really get to know a family and document their relationships in a meaningful way. so fun.

happy first birthday vivian! the event studios wishes you many more years of fun and happiness ahead!

planning an orange, pink, and white striped party!!!

I can’t believe a year has already gone by since I planned my most favorite first birthday party ever (if you missed it – you can enjoy it here). and now I’m in the midst of planning another party – this time to celebrate both a precious two year old and her precious one year old cousin since they share a birthday! pretty special. i thought i’d share a few of my “plans” for the party!

THEME: stripes! orange, pink and white stripes! why? it’s fun. allows lots of variety in the decor. bright and happy – perfect to represent the cheerfulness of the birthday duo. pink for the ladies, and orange for the gents, with white to give some balance and visual space. I’m even going to ask the guests to wear stripes! why not get people involved?!?

here’s a quick image board of ideas that represent the theme of the party. you’ll have to stay tuned for photos of all the details from the big event! we’ll be sure to share in about a month. we sure do love event planning around here (you can’t even imagine how excited i was to get pink and white striped compostable straws from etsy!). so much fun!

a lovely magazine ad

recently at the event studios, we had a great opportunity to partner with The Source Salon + Spa of Tucson, AZ for their April 2011 ad campaign. It was exciting to be able to publish one of our photos in their ad, since we love the salon’s mission – Beauty for You, Beauty for Earth. The salon uses all organic products and eco-friendly practices. If you are EVER in Tucson, you should absolutely go and enjoy a salon + spa experience with them.
