lovely organic linen girl’s dress

i recently made a simple (yes simple! you could make one too!) little pillowcase style dress for a sweet little girl to wear on her third birthday. i chose to make it with organic linen and some cute flowery fabric for the ties on the shoulders, with matching pink thread to add a little touch of color. i think it turned out great! especially for it being my first time making this style dress. can be worn for all sorts of events – parties, play, with some tights and long sleeve underneath – a perfect fall outfit. next up – making a similar one for my lovely little girl!

i’m SOOOOOO excited to announce that the event studios is soon launching a collection of handmade home and baby goods that you’ll be sure to love! one of the fun items to come is for the babes – a TUTU collection! what could be better? and guess what – they are not just for the little ones. i think a lot of us “older” girls might have some fun wearing a tutu! i know my daughter and i have fun wearing ours during our dance parties! so stay tuned for the official launch and more product previews to come!
something lovely – a handmade baby gift…

i’m guessing most of us have a handmade gift that we love, that once upon a time, someone special gave to us. i know i do. i have many (i’m very sentimental), but off the top of my head, i immediately think of the pair of booties that my mom made for me when i was a baby, and i was so excited to be able to put them on my own baby when she was born (except that her feet were way too big!)…
so in the spirit of handmade goodness, i decided to attempt to make a baby shower gift which included a baby blanket, reversible bib, and burp cloth set for a lovely, pregnant friend of mine. i made each one with love (and lots of imperfections) and nervously waited for her to open her gift at her shower, just hoping that she didn’t give it that ”i’m smiling even though i think it’s totally atrocious” look. and finally, as she opened it, it actually got oohs and ahhs from the other girls, and my pregnant friend anna whispered to me later in the night that it was her favorite gift. wow.
here are a couple photos of the finished gifts! what do you think – lovely? or not?
